Uncle Carl Nelson

Carl L. Nelson (February 9, 1917 - February 17, 2007)

Carl L. Nelson, 90, of Siletz and formerly of Union County, died February 17, 2007 in Newport. A private family viewing took place February 19, 2007 at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, followed by a celebration of life. A graveside service at the Summerville Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Nelson was born February 9, 1917 to Nels and Ethel Nelson in Elgin. He lived in Elgin and La Grande area and served in the Army during World War II.
Carl worked for Del Monte Seed for 32 years and was a member of the Western Teamsters Union. He retired and moved to Siletz in 1979 and worked at Mo's in Newport for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jean" of Siletz; daughters, Deanna Agan and Elaine Jones, both of Toledo, and Kay Shaefer of Redmond; stepdaughters, Rhonda, Connie and Bonnie; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
